Meet Rebecca

Rebecca is a life-long Democrat and thirty-one year resident of Clear Creek County, who raised her family in the community. Rebecca believes that we need fresh approaches to solving the tough issues facing our community, and that we can make progress by moving forward in a sustainable AND accountable way. With a background working for the Environmental Protection Agency, as Legal Counsel for a large company, and as a Trial Attorney for the US Department of Justice, she has the life experiences and skillset to bring innovative solutions to the Board of County Commissioners.

Rebecca has a long history of community involvement. She was a regular volunteer for Clear Creek County Schools, volunteered for the Georgetown Half Marathon and was a volunteer Ski Instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled at Winter Park.

Before moving to Colorado, Rebecca attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts receiving a B.A. in Politics. After graduation, she worked as a Congressional Aide in the US House of Representatives before going to Law School at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. receiving her J.D.

Rebecca is married to former Clear Creek County Commissioner, Peter Monson, and they have an adult son, Conrad (ā€œCJā€) Monson, who attended Clear Creek County schools from kindergarten through graduation, had a successful college career, and now works as an engineer. Rebecca and Peter live in West Evergreen.
